Peggy Horne Taylor began painting in 1980. She owned a dessert catering company called “Eatable Art.’’ One day, one of her customers suggested she start painting pictures to hang on the wall for people to enjoy instead of painting pictures on cakes for them to eat. That was all it took for Taylor to jump into oil painting with both feet.
Today she is devoted to painting colorful scintillating oil and pastel impressionistic works in both regular size and miniature. She lived in Saudi Arabia for 30 years and many of her works are inspired by the Middle East and her travels. Formerly the Director of Willow Wisp Farm Studios, a small art school in Fairview, NC; specializing in plein-air painting, Taylor currently operates her studio and gallery with the same name and teaches art classes.
Peggy Taylor has studied with many nationally known artists, but she credits the time she spent studying with Lois Griffel of the Cape Cod School of Art for the direction her art has taken in the past 15 years. Other instructors include: Tom Browning, Robert Johnson, Ann Templeton, Bob Rohm, Camille Przewodek, Charles Sovek, Ben Konis, Kenn Backhaus, Doug Dawson, Gay Faulkenberry, M Kathryn Massey, Roberta Remy, Richard McKinley, and others. Her work is at The Design Gallery in Burnsville, NC, and Willow Wisp Farm Studios & Gallery in Fairview, NC. Taylor is a juried member of artspecifier.com.
Taylor has received many awards including “Best of Show,” and more. Peggy is an invited painting advisor for the HIghlands Art Union and she is a Signature Member of the Western North Carolina Plein-air Painters. The highlight of her career was being asked to participate in a private exhibition for His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah ibn Turki Al Saud in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. She is in the book “Best of NC Artists 2005.”
Her works can be found in the corporate collections of Harbor Enterprises in Syros, Greece; the Carver Bible College in Atlanta, GA.; the Carolina Mountain Land Conservatory, NC; The Lobster Trap in Asheville, NC, the City of Sparks, Nevada; The Hilton Hotel in Asheville, NC. Peggy’s work can be found in private collections in such diverse locations as: the USA, Saudi Arabia, Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, Holland, Canada, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Lebanon, and the Philippines.

Simon's Cat
Art comes in many forms. I love this video because this is what my cat, Rosie, does to me every morning. Simon Tofield really nailed it when he made this video. Thank you Simon for making me smile every time I see it!
